I’ve got another designer dupe post today – handbag edition! As you may have seen, mini bags and mini backpacks are the hot trend in handbags right now and the Louis Vuitton Palm Springs Mini Backpack has taken the fashion world by storm. When I first saw this bag I completely fell in love. Apart from its adorable size, I was drawn to the convertible function of the Palm Springs Mini as both a backpack and a shoulder/crossbody bag. Tragically, I don’t have $1940 on hand to drop on a backpack that is pretty much the same size as the one I had when I was five. While I was searching up Youtube reviews on the LV bag the next thing I found was Zara’s version of the mini convertible backpack … so naturally, I had to have it. While it doesn’t have the iconic monogram canvas, in all other ways this bag is a great dupe. The size is right, it has a retractable top handle, backpack straps, as well as a Chanel-esque shoulder strap. It features a front zip pocket and a large main compartment with its own zip pocket at the back.
One of the things I love about the convertible function is that you can switch out the straps – here I’ve pictured it with the shoulder strap from my Givenchy Pandora (size large) and an eBay adjustable strap for crossbody looks, as well as my Balenciaga City strap if you wanted a shorter shoulder bag look.
The best part is that this bag fits a surprising amount of stuff! Here, I have two examples of ways I could pack it. Keep in mind that while larger items such as a long wallet or full-size water bottle do fit, they take up a lot of space so it’s best to downsize as much as possible if you want to maximize capacity. Also as a side note, my iPhone 6S also fits with both these options.
Option 1: YSL long flap wallet, Fujifilm Instax Mini polaroid camera, YSL Black Opium mini, Tiffany and Co. sunglasses, faux Chanel compact mirror/battery pack, Louis Vuitton 6 Ring Keyholder
Option 2: Louis Vuitton Mini Pochette (Transatlantic edition), full-size water bottle, Kate Spade cardholder, Rebecca Minkoff flat pouch, Louis Vuitton 6 Ring Keyholder
If you want in on the mini backpack trend without having to spend close to 2K, I’d highly recommend this Zara dupe! It’s from a few seasons ago so you can’t find it on the Zara website, but I was able to find mine on the preloved market. If you want this exact bag, don’t lose hope – with some searching, I’m pretty confident you’ll eventually find one on sites such as Poshmark or eBay. In the meantime, I’ve also linked some similar mini convertible backpacks below. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you’re inspired to hop on the trend!
