Reviewed by Emm: Burberry Rain Boots

Hi everyone,

After the miserable week of rain we’ve had here in Michigan I decided to make lemonade out of lemons at at least get a blog post out of it! These Burberry rain boots are my go-to every time there’s heavy rain. I’ve had them for almost 4 years and figured I’ve used them long enough to give a thorough review on them. As for the rest of the outfit, full disclosure, a Burberry trench coat is totally not in my budget and this one is totally not mine. The best thing about having a successful working-woman mom (besides being very proud to call her your mother) is being able to raid her designer closet – so shoutout to my to my mom for having great taste. Keeping with the theme I decided to go for a full Burberry look with my classic house check scarf. I don’t own any Burberry bags, but loved the way the canvas on my vintage Gucci bag went with the light trench coat.

I’ll be rating functionality, aesthetics, staying power, and price. Keep reading to see the overall rating!

Functionality: 5/5

In high school I never understood why people bothered with rain boots, probably because I was mostly driving around and never had to walk 6 blocks to class in the rain…that changed very quickly when I got to college. After the first rainy week I got so sick of my socks getting wet through my shoes that I headed straight to the mall to see what all the fuss was about. These rain boots get a 5 for functionality because they really get the job done. It’s so nice to not have to worry about enormous puddles or stress about ruining a nice pair of shoes on a rainy day. If you’re someone who lives in a place that has rainy months and you have to do a lot of walking, I highly recommend getting boots made specififcally for wet weather. This Burberry pair feels very well-made and has held up perfectly.

Aesthetics: 4/5

When I went shopping for rain boots I didn’t have Burberry in mind, but once I saw this pair I completely fell in love. I preferred the matte look over the patent finish you see on a lot of pairs and of course couldn’t resist the iconic Burberry check. I’ve seen shorter versions but like the taller versions better for more coverage and for a dressier look. The only reason these don’t get a perfect 5 is actually the check print. As much as I love it, in my opinion it does limit the clothes you can pair it with. I’m not one for putting prints on prints so I make sure to stick to simple clothes and have the boots be the focal point of my outfit.

Staying Power: 4.5/5

There’s nothing too fancy when it comes to the silhouette of these boots which adds to the longevity of the style. Just like pumps or ankle booties, a basic rain boot will always be a wardrobe staple and I don’t forsee that changing in the future. While I personally find the all-over Burberry check on pieces such as bags and shirts to be a bit dated, I think it works well for these boots especially in the more subtle grey on grey combination. All of these reasons give the boots great staying power – they get a near perfect 4.5 only because some people might not be partial to the print.

Price: 3.5/5

Price is the only category where these boots falter – at $325 they’re definitely on the pricier side. While I do think they’re high quality and wear quite well, at the end of the day they’re still just rubber and canvas rain boots so you’re paying a lot for the brand name. Another thing to consider is cost per wear. Unfortunately (or actually, fortunately) it doesn’t rain all the time in Michigan so it’s not like I’m using these boots every day which doesn’t do much for their cost per wear. However, one redeeming quality is the fact that this pair is both durable and classic so I know I’ll be using them for years to come.

Overall rating: 4.25/5

All in all I’m happy to have these boots in my wardrobe and find them super handy on rainy days. They’re not always the most versatile when it comes to the print, but I love the Burberry check so much that I’ll gladly coordinate my outfits around it. Though I’m not wearing them all the time, every time I pull them out they make me smile on rainy days. If you’re into designer brands and have been searching for fashionable yet durable rain boots then I highly recommend investing in a pair!

Thanks for stopping by this week and stay dry out there!

xoxo, Emm
