Hope you all had a beautiful Mother’s Day weekend! This week I’m hopping on here to share an OOTD that I wore on a mini trip with my mom to Holland, MI. Despite living in Michigan for nearly two decades we’ve somehow never made it to the Holland Tulip Festival so it seemed like the perfect pick for a mother-daughter weekend getaway. Apart from the millions of gorgeous tulips, we also got to learn about Holland’s Dutch roots and explore the cute downtown. One day wasn’t nearly enough to explore everything the festival and the town had to offer so we will definitely be back in the future!
As for the outfit, I went with my summer staple: a white sundress + tan cork/rope wedge heels + a denim jacket
I feel like you can choose whatever iterations of these pieces that you like and they’ll always combine to create the quintessential summer look. White is just a light, summery color to me. I chose an A-line white dress with a floral print (rather fitting for the event) and beautiful lace detailing. I must have bought this dress at least 4 years ago and still wear it every summer which just goes to show how timeless and versatile a good white sundress can be.
If you give me the choice between black or tan leather shoes, 9 times out of 10 I’ll go with black unless we’re talking about summer shoes. Something about the combination of white with the natural tan look immediately makes me think of warm weather. Every summer I buy a pair of tan heels and wear them until they fall apart. This year I picked up a pair from Treasure and Bond which seem a bit sturdier than the Franco Sarto ones I usually go for, so I’m optimistic about them lasting more than just one season.
It was warm but cloudy on Mother’s Day so a jacket seemed like the way to go. If you don’t already own some sort of denim jacket, you absolutely need one in your wardrobe. You can wear it with a simple black jeans/white tee look, over a crop top, or over a dress like I’ve shown here. I chose a cropped one to fit with the sweet, feminine look I was going for but I’ve also worn this exact outfit with an oversized denim jacket and love it just as much.
As for my bag, I went with the classic Louis Vuitton monogram canvas and vachetta leather to keep with the tan accessories theme. I just purchased this vintage Montsouris MM backpack preloved and am loving how convenient it is going hands-free! I’ll apologize in advance since I can already tell I’ll be spamming you all with pictures of this bag all summer. Expect a review coming your way in the future!
Like always the outfit details will be linked below. Thanks for stopping by this week and I hope you have fun creating your own go-to summer looks!
