I’m finally back with another post! And actually I’m back home too. Traveling got a bit hectic and I’ve been unpacking and fighting off jet lag for the last few days so forgive me for neglecting my blog over the last week. Hopefully I’ll be able to share what I did and wore in Paris by the end of this week too and we’ll be all caught up!
This post was meant to include Zurich, Switzerland as well, but since we were visiting family there we spent so much time catching up around their apartment that I didn’t manage to get out and take pictures. Anyways, I’m pretty sure me in my PJs isn’t the level of fashion you’re looking for on this blog so maybe that’s for the best.
This was one of my favorite parts of the trip since we got to road trip around Germany – a country I’ve never visited before – with my aunt’s family who I only see a few times a year. We’ve missed them a ton back home in Michigan, but they’ve had the opportunity to explore Europe as expats in Switzerland for the last few years and planned out an amazing mini trip for us!
We headed out for an early start on the Autobahn – nothing wakes you up like speeding along at over 100mph! Our first stop was Triberg in Germany’s Black Forest. Apart from its charming cuckoo clocks, it also had a hike up to a gorgeous waterfall. And yes, I did hike in wedges. As I told my family 3 times I swear I can do almost anything in these Clarks wedges! Why does no one believe me? You should just pick up a pair and find out for yourself! I paired the shoes with a gingham romper and my trusty Lanvin camera bag for a monochromatic look. I love dresses and rompers on vacation because they’re an easy one-piece outfit. I particularly love this romper because it’s a skort style so you have the convenience of shorts with the look of a dress. We ended the night in Rothenburg for dinner and a night tour of the city.
On our second day we had more time to explore Rothenburg which had to be my favorite stop. It’s a walled fortress city with colorful houses and cobblestone streets. There are endless little shops and views from every corner. While we were there I actually got to meet one of my boyfriend’s childhood friends from Russia. I don’t think I would’ve ever guessed that I’d be spending time with my Michigan family over in Germany while speaking Russian with a new friend there – life is strange sometimes, isn’t it? After having to say goodbye too soon we headed onto our last stop in Hohenschwangau to see Neuschwanstein Castle. If you think it looks familiar, it probably is! It’s said to be the inspiration for the Disney castle. I went for a more casual look in a new outfit I picked up in Zurich at Brandy Melville’s sister brand Subdued (my poor wallet). The shorts are high-waisted and flared at the bottom which make for a super flattering cut. You can’t see it in the pictures, but the cropped tee has a cute lace-up detail on the back. I have to say I’m almost relieved to be back home because shopping is just too easy in Europe!
After visiting Germany for the first time, I will definitely be back. I know there are still so many amazing cities there we didn’t get to cover and I completely fell in love with the gorgeous countryside. I want to say a huge thank you if you’ve been keeping up with my trip – it’s been so much fun to explore Europe and snap pictures to share! And of course, thanks for putting up with my messy posting schedule. Hopefully I’ll be talking to you again soon!
